Why do adults think that all teenagers are bad?

I was watching a program on channel 4 yesterday called Teen Trouble. It was a documentary basically asking why adults think all teenagers are bad. It seemed to me that it was the media that has caused this uncalled for stereotyping that has gone on for years. I am actually a teenager and must admit that am no saint but when you are my age and especially in this generation it is deemed "uncool" to be a teachers pet all of the time and always obey your parents but I can guarantee that just because teenagers have an attitude it doesn't mean that we go around terrifying old people vandalizing houses and stealing from corner shops! I really think that adults should take a look at some of the teenagers in the area and remember what they were like when they were our age. Take this as an example of stereotyping, My friend has been banned from her local cost cutters because the shop keeper has accused her of shop lifting and when my friends mum asked to see CCTV proof of my friend stealing from the shop the lady said that she couldn't show the footage because it doesn't show the people's faces! How can that women tell my mate stole from the shop then? To be honest I think the adults need to start to realize that they are not the only people in their communities and teenagers are actually there.

I think the recent London riots have had some impact on how adults think of teenagers and I do agree with them slightly in the fact that some teenagers are into drugs and knife crime but like I said that doesn't mean all of us are bad alot of teenagers actually bother with school and want to get a decent education and get good jobs. Look at me for example, I want to pass all of my GCSE's next year and then go on to sixth form and take A-Level music and from there go onto collage and get my music degree and become a music teacher.

Maybe adults need to start think of our feelings and stop discriminating against us and judging us for how we dress and how we speak around our mates.
