My thoughts of David Cameron getting Twitter

Earlier today, I heard about the Prime Minister David Cameron signing up for microblogging service Twitter. His first tweet was "I'm starting Conference with this new Twitter feed about my role as Conservative Leader. I promise there won't be 'too many tweets...'".

Cameron's tweets used to go through the account @number10gov which is the official Twitter feed for the Prime Minister's office. Other politicians with Twitter accounts include, Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Foreign Secretary William Hague.

Despite recently joining the site, Cameron already has over 50 thousand followers (including me) and I'm sure that number is very likely to rise quickly.

However, I don't really see the point in him getting his own personal account because as I have already said, the Prime Minister's office already has an official account and Cameron could have just used that. Also, anyone that is supporting Ed Miliband could easily hack the PM's account and post things on there that could  either get him arrested or force him to stand down as Prime Minister, which is a lot of cases would be a very good thing but it would be unfair on Cameron and his family because he would have lost a chance to even let people vote for him.

Cameron is only currently following four people: William Hague, Boris Johnson and the official twitter feed of the Conservative party.

I will leave you with this to think about, will Cameron's new twitter account help or hinder his campaign to be elected as British Prime Minister again?
