The BBC trust has stated that comments on the popular tv show Top Gear which likended the design of a camper van to people with facial disfigurments, did breach their guidelines. An appeal has found presenter Jeremy Clarkson, who called facial growths "really ugly things" had played on a steriotypical negative reaction.
When I read this the first thing that came into my head was finally they have been punished for using innapropriate language and frankly being out of order! this show is broadcast to an average of five million people around the world and 137 complaints were made about the episode of Top Gear that the comment was made on! and Clarkson has the cheek to make a remark like that? he must have half a brain if he thinks that it's only able bodied people who watch his show! some of the other things that he has done were contraversial but this by far tops the lot!
I personally don't watch the show because to be honest I am not into cars and even if I was I would find it boring and a load of old rubbish anyway and if Clarkson, Hammond and May have to make remarks like that to get their point across to viewers then they must have very littke knowledge of the English language! a few months ago, some people posted some horrible tweets to Clarkson after he tweeted that his dog had died I obviously don't agree with this and certianly wasn't one of the people involved because I have two dogs myself and am very close to them, especially my labrodour marmite. However, I can now see why people would put nasty comments like "Good" and "I hope he rots in hell" because finally people had a way to be nasty to him and tell him how angry they were at some of the comments he had made in the past, hopefully he actually gets punished for breaching the BBC guidelines and justice is done.
