I thought that professional footballers were supposed to be sensible adults but when I read about Swansea player Ashley Williams kicking the ball at Manchester United player Robin Van Persie! Williams protested saying that it wasn’t on purpose but the way I see it is that he shouldn’t have even kicked the ball in the first place! he should’ve seen Van Persie on the floor if he was only a few yards away like the BBC Sport article says.
Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson called for Williams to be suspended during his post-match interview and I agree with him! like he says Van Persie could have easily been seriously injured.
I know that there has been more serious events that have happened in football this year especially the massive fight after the England and Serbia under 21’s game in the summer but this shouldn’t be taken any less seriously by the FA and I do feel that Ashley should be punished in some way so that Van Persie and Manchester United feel a sense that justice has been done because as I have already said, Robin Van Persie could have ended up in hospital for Christmas instead of his family!
