The Billericay School care more about students haircuts than their education

The Billericay School in Essex clearly cares more about how students look than they do about how good students’ grades are. The headmistress of the Essex school, Sue Hammond has recently imposed a ban on haircuts inspired by The Only Way Is Essex star Joey Essex stating that the haircut is untidy. I attend The Billericay School and the majority of the students do have the pompadour haircut and they will not be happy about this!

I don’t have the pompadour style because I personally don’t like it. However, I feel that it looks nice on the majority of students in the school. I really don’t see how a hairstyle effects a students education and feel that the teachers have no right to tell a student how they should look, it’s out of order and against human rights because everyone has the right to look how they choose to look, anyway no parent has ever complained about students have that particular hairstyle so why do the school feel it necessary to complain about it and make an issue?

The school rules regarding hair state that no “extreme” hairstyles are allowed, the “extreme” term applies to brightly coloured hair and hair of extreme length (too long or too short) and the pompadour style is neither of bright colour or too long or too short so there is nothing in the school rules against the style as far as I am aware. The school tries to promote individuality and yet they try ban a popular hairstyle that is different from the conventional styles that were popular during their school days which for most of the teachers was a hell of a long time ago!

The school should focus more on their grades than the hairstyles of their students!
